This update provides the corresponding updates for the Linux<br \/>Hardware Enablement (HWE) kernel from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for Ubuntu<br \/>14.04 LTS.<\/p>\n<p>It was discovered that a race condition existed in the ALSA subsystem of<br \/>the Linux kernel when creating and deleting a port via ioctl(). A local<br \/>attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or<br \/>possibly execute arbitrary code. (<a href=\"http:\/\/people.ubuntu.com\/~ubuntu-security\/cve\/CVE-2017-15265\">CVE-2017-15265<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Eric Biggers discovered that the key management subsystem in the Linux<br \/>kernel did not properly restrict adding a key that already exists but is<br \/>uninstantiated. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of<br \/>service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (<a href=\"http:\/\/people.ubuntu.com\/~ubuntu-security\/cve\/CVE-2017-15299\">CVE-2017-15299<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>It was discovered that a race condition existed in the packet fanout<br \/>implementation in the Linux kernel. A local attacker could use this to<br \/>cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary<br \/>code. (<a href=\"http:\/\/people.ubuntu.com\/~ubuntu-security\/cve\/CVE-2017-15649\">CVE-2017-15649<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Eric Biggers discovered a race condition in the key management subsystem of<br \/>the Linux kernel around keys in a negative state. A local attacker could<br \/>use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute<br \/>arbitrary code. A physically proximate attacker could use to cause a denial of<br \/>service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. A physically<br \/>proximate attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system<br \/>crash).
