A local attacker could<br \/>use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute<br \/>arbitrary code. (<a href=\"http:\/\/people.ubuntu.com\/~ubuntu-security\/cve\/CVE-2017-16939\">CVE-2017-16939<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>It was discovered that the Linux kernel did not properly handle copy-on-<br \/>write of transparent huge pages. A local attacker could use this to cause a<br \/>denial of service (application crashes) or possibly gain administrative<br \/>privileges. (<a href=\"http:\/\/people.ubuntu.com\/~ubuntu-security\/cve\/CVE-2017-1000405\">CVE-2017-1000405<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Yonggang Guo discovered that a race condition existed in the driver<br \/>subsystem in the Linux kernel. A local attacker could use this to possibly<br \/>gain administrative privileges.
