You may also know this as Windows 10, version 1903. The Windows 10 SDK for the May 2019 Update is now available as well with a go-live license today!<\/p>\n<h1>New APIs and Features for developers<\/h1>\n<p>Every update of Windows 10 is loaded with new APIs but don\u2019t worry, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/windows\/uwp\/whats-new\/windows-10-build-18362\">Windows Dev Center has a full list of what is new for developers<\/a>. Here are a few of my favorites.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>XAML Islands v1:<\/strong> This first version comes with a lot of improvements from preview release inside 1809. Some highlights are: resolve airspace issues in popups, the XAML content matches host\u2019s DPI awareness, Narrator works with the XAML content, allow islands in multiple top-level windows on one thread, support MRT localization &amp; resource loading, and keyboard accelerators work cross frameworks. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/communitytoolkit\/\">Windows Community Toolkit<\/a> v6, being released in June, will include wrappers for WPF and WinForms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Windows Subsystem for Linux:<\/strong> While the team did a great <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/commandline\/whats-new-for-wsl-in-windows-10-version-1903\/\">1903 recap blog<\/a>, here is a recap on how you can now access Linux files from within Windows, and there are better command line options!\n<ol>\n<li>You can now use wslconfig.exe commands in wsl.exe<\/li>\n<li>There are some news commands in wsl.exe:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211;user,-u : Run a distro as a specified user<\/li>\n<li>&#8211;import : Import a distro into WSL from a tarball<\/li>\n<li>&#8211;export : Export a distro from WSL to a tarball<\/li>\n<li>&#8211;terminate, t : Terminate a running distribution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Windows UI Library 2.1:<\/strong> WinUI is open source and everyone can check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Microsoft\/microsoft-ui-xaml\">WinUI GitHub repo<\/a> to file issues, discuss new features, and even contribute code. Inside <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/uwp\/toolkits\/winui\/release-notes\/winui-2.1\">WinUI 2.1<\/a>, we&#8217;ve added new controls such as an animated visual player, enhancing the menubar, teaching tip, item repeater and much more. There are also features where we\u2019ve addressed many accessibility, visual and functional issues reported by developers. We encourage everyone to use WinUI in their UWP apps &#8211; it&#8217;s the best way to get the latest Fluent design, controls, and is backward-compatible to Windows 10 Anniversary Update.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Update your dev environment in two simple steps today<\/h1>\n<p>The first is to update your system to Windows 10 May 2019 Update by using the Release Preview Ring.\u00a0The Insider team has a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">great blog post<\/span> <strong>LINK<\/strong> on exact details getting on the Release Preview Ring. Once you do that, just go into Visual Studio 2017 or 2019 and grab the new SDK and you\u2019re good to go. When input\u2013output memory management unit (IOMMU) is running on VMware Hypervisor, any guest client or server virtual machine (VM) that uses IOMMU may stop working. Typical use scenarios include when Virtualization-based Security (VBS) and Windows Credential Guard are enabled for a guest VM.<\/p>\n<p>We are working to provide a solution as soon as possible.
