{"id":47166,"date":"2022-07-16T03:46:40","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T18:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jirak.net\/wp\/customer-orders-database-what-next\/"},"modified":"2022-07-16T04:34:28","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T19:34:28","slug":"customer-orders-database-what-next","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jirak.net\/wp\/customer-orders-database-what-next\/","title":{"rendered":"Customer Orders Database \u2013 what next?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Customer Orders Database \u2013 what next?<\/p>\n<p>A few years ago we created a code sample for enterprise developers called <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/windows-appsample-customers-orders-database\/tree\/master\/\">Customer Orders Database<\/a>, designed to demonstrate how developers can create and manage customer accounts, orders, and products for the fictitious company Contoso.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56601 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/prod\/sites\/3\/2022\/07\/Picture1-1.png\" alt=\"Customer Orders Database\" width=\"624\" height=\"412\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was very popular, so we continued updating it to support each new version of Windows and the Windows App SDK, and to demonstrate current design guidance. Last year <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/windows-appsample-customers-orders-database\/blob\/master\/windows-11-update.md\">we updated it to use WinUI 2.6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In May of this year, just in time for Microsoft Build, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/samples\/microsoft\/windows-appsample-customers-orders-database\/customers-orders-database-sample\/\">we gave it a major overhaul to work with Windows App SDK<\/a>, and to support the latest Azure features. Of course, we had to make it look at home on Windows 11. So now, based on WinUI 3, the Customer Order Database showcases UI controls including a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/windows\/communitytoolkit\/controls\/datagrid\">data grid<\/a>\u00a0from the Windows Community Toolkit.<\/p>\n<p>Making use of Azure Active Directory (AAD) authentication, Sqlite and SQL Azure database integration, the Entity Framework, and cloud API services.<\/p>\n<p>We hope this is just the beginning for the Customer Orders Database code sample, and we\u2019d like your help making future versions even better.<\/p>\n<p>So we\u2019re asking you, what else should the sample do?<\/p>\n<p>What other features would you like the sample to include? What\u2019s stopping you from using it as the basis for a project in your enterprise?
