USN-5927-1: Linux kernel (Azure) vulnerabilities

2023-03-07 KENNETH 0

USN-5927-1: Linux kernel (Azure) vulnerabilities It was discovered that the Upper Level Protocol (ULP) subsystem in the Linux kernel did not properly handle sockets entering the LISTEN state in certain protocols, leading to a use-after-free vulnerability. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2023-0461) It was discovered that the System V IPC implementation in the Linux kernel did not properly handle large shared memory counts. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (memory exhaustion). (CVE-2021-3669) It was discovered that a use-after-free vulnerability existed in the SGI GRU driver in the Linux kernel. A local attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2022-3424) It was discovered that a race condition existed in the [ more… ]

USN-5926-1: Linux kernel vulnerabilities

2023-03-07 KENNETH 0

USN-5926-1: Linux kernel vulnerabilities Kirill Tkhai discovered that the XFS file system implementation in the Linux kernel did not calculate size correctly when pre-allocating space in some situations. A local attacker could use this to expose sensitive information. (CVE-2021-4155) Lee Jones discovered that a use-after-free vulnerability existed in the Bluetooth implementation in the Linux kernel. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2022-20566) Duoming Zhou discovered that a race condition existed in the SLIP driver in the Linux kernel, leading to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. An attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2022-41858) Tamás Koczka discovered that the Bluetooth L2CAP implementation in the Linux kernel did not properly initialize memory in some situations. A physically proximate attacker could possibly use this [ more… ]

USN-5925-1: Linux kernel vulnerabilities It was discovered that the Upper Level Protocol (ULP) subsystem in the Linux kernel did not properly handle sockets entering the LISTEN state in certain protocols, leading to a use-after-free vulnerability. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2023-0461) It was discovered that a race condition existed in the Kernel Connection Multiplexor (KCM) socket implementation in the Linux kernel when releasing sockets in certain situations. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2022-3521) It was discovered that the Netronome Ethernet driver in the Linux kernel contained a use-after-free vulnerability. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2022-3545) It was discovered that the Broadcom FullMAC USB [ more… ]

USN-5923-1: LibTIFF vulnerabilities

2023-03-07 KENNETH 0

USN-5923-1: LibTIFF vulnerabilities It was discovered that LibTIFF could be made to read out of bounds when processing certain malformed image files with the tiffcrop tool. If a user were tricked into opening a specially crafted image file, an attacker could possibly use this issue to cause tiffcrop to crash, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2023-0795, CVE-2023-0796, CVE-2023-0797, CVE-2023-0798, CVE-2023-0799) It was discovered that LibTIFF could be made to write out of bounds when processing certain malformed image files with the tiffcrop tool. If a user were tricked into opening a specially crafted image file, an attacker could possibly use this issue to cause tiffcrop to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.
