CES 2021: Lenovo’s lineup includes IdeaPad 5G, Yoga AIO 7, Legion 7 and thinnest ThinkPad ever
At CES 2021, Lenovo introduced an array of powerful Windows 10 devices for families, professionals and gamers that include Windows Hello, 5G, bigger screens and blue light reduction to reduce eye strain as more and more people spend time in video conferences.
With so many families working and learning from home, sharing Wi-Fi, it’s more important than ever to have a reliable 4G/LTE or 5G cellular connection to enable lightning-fast speeds during many, many video conference calls and classes. With this in mind, the new ultra-portable Lenovo IdeaPad 5G is ready to work and explore when you are, with Instant on with Modern Standby. Where 5G is unavailable, you’ll enjoy more security and dependability via 4G LTE connectivity [1], which is the default on this 2.6 pound laptop.
This makes it easier for you to stay connected at home or on the go by combining what you love about your smartphone with the efficiency of a thin and light fan-less laptop with Windows 10.
Unlock the IdeaPad 5G with your face via the infrared (IR) camera and Windows Hello for added security. You’ll find it atop razor-thin borders for a roomy 90% screen ratio for expansive panel viewing, on a Windows 10 on ARM PC that is 0.59 inches thin. But its diminutive size belies the performance and efficiency of the leading Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G processor, which powers it, utilizing Qualcomm Adreno 680 graphics and the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 Modem-RF system for connectivity. All this empowers you to download movies, make calls and send emails from virtually anywhere at speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G, through a 5G service provider [2].
The 14-inch IdeaPad 5G is expected to be available in select markets. Pricing will vary per market.
The Yoga AIO 7 is an all-in-one desktop PC with Windows 10 that takes up less space thanks to a rotating display, a hinge feature exclusive to Lenovo that helps you personalize your setup [3]. With just the push of a finger, swivel the slim-framed display from a horizontal to full vertical position to allow for a tall and sleek window screen. Or, tilt the viewing angle from completely flat to up to 20 degrees for customized comfort. With its integrated wireless casting hardware, you can activate the display remotely from a tablet or smartphone without having to turn on your desktop.
You can also charge your laptop via your Yoga AIO 7 and transfer files with one cable, plus drag and drop files from your laptop while connected to shared storage as you crank out big creative tasks. This desktop is powered by up to AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Processor and paired with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU for multi-tasking, content creation and gaming.
The Yoga AIO 7 is available now in China (where it is known as Yoga 27), and expected to be available in select markets in February starting at $1,599.
As increasingly distributed workforces and hybrid work models become the reality of a new normal, small and large businesses around the world are in search of adopt new technologies for smart collaboration, increased efficiency and shorter downtimes. In that spirit, Lenovo debuted the ThinkReality A3 lightweight smart glasses, which tethers to a PC or select Motorola smartphones [4] via a USB-C cable. They’ll be available worldwide in select markets in mid-2021.
Lenovo also introduced its thinnest ThinkPad ever, the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga. Covered in titanium material, it’s just over 0.43 inches thin, is 5G-ready and features a 3:2 ratio 13.5-inch low power display with Dolby Vision support and Dolby Atmos sound. The new ThinkPad X12 Detachable combines the features of a high-performance laptop with the flexibility of a 12.3-inch detachable tablet.
Human Presence Detection for zero touch log-in uses Windows Hello, a more personal, more secure way to sign into the device and will lock the system when you walk away. Integrating the fingerprint reader on the power button combines two functions into a single action, making it more efficient.
The ThinkPad X1 portfolio (with the exception of the X1 Fold) is based on the Intel Evo platform and powered by 11th Gen Intel Core vPro processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics to deliver improved speed and intelligence while maintaining long battery life [5].
The ThinkPad X1 Titanium will available to order in January, with prices starting at $1,899. The ThinkPad X12 Detachable will also be available in January, with prices expected to start from $1,149.
The new ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 and USB-C Universal and Smart Docks have been designed to solve problems caused by work-from-anywhere situations. They provide silent detection, downloading and installation of firmware updates. The Smart Docks, powered by Microsoft Azure Sphere, further enhance functionality by providing remote capabilities for updates, device management and port status monitoring without interrupting end user productivity and without the need for a PC to be connected.
Across the portfolio, certain displays are being enhanced with blue light reduction to reduce eye strain, increasingly important as we spend more and more time in video conferences. New 16:10 or 3:2 screen ratios also offer more pixels per real estate, increase screen-to-body ratios and can improve productivity with better content distribution on the display.
In 2021, Lenovo Legion ups its gaming performance with hardware and software innovations. These new laptops come with intelligent Lenovo Legion Coldfront 3.0 thermals for an increased airflow of up to 18% gen-to-gen to better manage the heat and noise generated by all that raw processing power. Multiple sensors are placed on the CPU, GPU, rear and side thermal vents, as well as on the SSD memory card and palm rest to fire off information every nanosecond to predict your system’s thermal curve for hours of gaming with zero throttling.
The new Lenovo Legion AI Engine is exclusive to Lenovo gaming, a smarter combination of best-in-class hardware, software, firmware and driver support that all work together to help overclock your PC’s performance by sharing Thermal Design Power [6] between the CPU and GPU to better manage any heavy-duty gaming requirement – such as a role-playing game that leans heavily on GPU performance to keep up the boosted FPS needed to enjoy that cinematic experience. Lenovo Legion’s new 2021 laptops are among the first to feature the next-gen AMD Ryzen Mobile Processors (coming soon).

Night Mode provides smart volume reduction to adjust sound levels in different settings, while Sound Sharing allows audio to play on two sets of gaming headsets simultaneously from a single PC.
Lenovo’s designers shored up space under the hinge to achieve the narrow tail design while keeping the same compact metal chassis size gen-to-gen on the new flagship Lenovo Legion 7. This made way for millions more pixels than before on a new near-edgeless 16-inch QHD display (2560 x 1600), a serious upgrade over the previous generation’s 15-inch Full HD panel. There’s 11% more screen real estate to improve your field of view in-game.
With ultra-high pixel density and a 90% screen-to-body ratio, this IPS display offers up to 500 nits of brightness and a 165Hz refresh rate for smoother gaming.
