NGINX Wants You! Join Us on the NGINXCommunity Slack You may have seen a recent blog post from Rob Whiteley, General Manager of the NGINX Product Group at F5, outlining the future of NGINX and how we’re getting back to our open source roots. One way we’re making stronger connections to our open source community is on the new NGINXCommunity Slack. The NGINX community has done a wonderful job finding help and answering each other’s questions across far corners of the Internet. The NGINX team is constantly impressed by the discussions we see online. That being said, there’s a gap in our community. That’s why we’ve launched the NGINXCommunity Slack as a watering hole at which we can digitally gather with the NGINX community, and I’d like to invite you to join. The NGINXCommunity Slack is a place where you can [ more… ]

The Future of NGINX: Getting Back to Our Open Source Roots Time flies when you’re having fun. So it’s hard to believe that NGINX is now 18 years old. Looking back, the community and company have accomplished a lot together. We recently hit a huge milestone – as of this writing 55.6% of all websites are powered by NGINX (either by our own software or by products built atop NGINX). We are also the number one web server by market share. We are very proud of that and grateful that you, the NGINX community, have given us this resounding vote of confidence. We also recognize, more and more, that open source software continues to change the world. A larger and larger percentage of applications are built using open source code. 5 Ways to Fight API Sprawl (And Why You Should Care) This is the first post in a two‑part series about API Connectivity Manager: 5 Ways to Fight API Sprawl (And Why You Should Care) – this post Why API Developer Experience Matters (coming soon) APIs are the connective tissue of the modern Internet, linking data from the edge back to the cloud and on‑premises data centers. According to F5’s 2021 State of Application Strategy Report, leveraging APIs is the most popular of the various methods that organizations are using to modernize: 58% of organizations are adding a layer of APIs to enable modern user interfaces 51% are adding modern application components (for example, Kubernetes) 47% are refactoring (modifying application code itself) 40% are moving to public cloud (lifting and shifting) without modernizing In an API‑driven economy, APIs must be 100% reliable.
