Delivering Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime to managed Windows 10 devices Microsoft Edge WebView2 is a UI control that allows developers to embed web content into their Win32 C++, .NET, and WinUI applications. It powers many applications today such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Power BI, and Visual Studio. Earlier this summer, we announced that we were beginning to roll out WebView2 Runtime – the runtime powering WebView2 applications – to Windows 10 Consumer devices to make it easier for developers to deploy their WebView2 applications. We are happy to report that WebView2 Runtime is now installed on most active eligible Windows 10 Consumer devices and will continue to be deployed on newly active Windows 10 devices. Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25262 Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25262 to the Dev Channel. TL;DR December 2022 Bug Bash: Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels will have seen quests light up in the Feedback Hub covering various scenarios we’re looking for feedback on. Take the opportunity to try out some new features and let us know how things are going! The Bug Bash will be running from now through to 11:59pm PST December 12th. Insiders who participate (by filing feedback or completing quests on the latest builds for their channel) will receive a badge in the Feedback Hub once the Bug Bash is over. Microsoft Edge and Webview2 ending support for Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 With Windows 7 Extended Security Update (ESU) and Windows 8/8.1 end of support on January 10th, 2023, and Google Chrome ending support for Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1, Microsoft Edge browser version 109 and Webview2 Runtime version 109 will be the last respective versions to support these operating systems. Additionally, WebView2 SDK versions 1.0.1519.0 and higher will no longer support Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1. Both Microsoft Edge version 109 and Webview2 Runtime version 109 are scheduled for release the week of January 12th, 2023 (to learn more, see our release schedule). While Microsoft Edge and Webview2 Runtime versions 109 and earlier will continue to work on these operating systems, those versions will not receive new features, future security updates, or bug fixes.
