Desktop Bridge: Smooth User Transition and Data Migration Overview The Windows 10 Creators Update will help provide smooth user transition along with some best practices for app developers to follow. This feature is available on the current insider builds. Users will be encouraged to download the store version of their desktop apps. User Transition: Taskbar Pins & Start Tiles Many users typically pin their favorite or most used apps to the taskbar pin or the start menu. This enables them to access the apps much faster. With the Creators Update, app developers can re-route the taskbar pins and the start tile shortcuts to point to the store version of the desktop app. Here’s a sample AppXManifest.xml snippet which shows [ more… ]

Playable Ads – Acquire Users Who Love to Engage with Your App We are happy to announce the launch of the preview of Playable Ads in the Windows Dev Center. We have made several ground-breaking enhancements in the way users interact with ads so that developers can acquire the users who are more engaged and proven to be more profitable. Animations by Rachel Nabors Today, scrolling is still the most fundamental interaction on the web, and perhaps the most misunderstood. User scrolls with two fingers on a touch pad User scrolls with one finger on a touch screen User scrolls with a mouse wheel on a physical mouse User clicks the sidebar and drags it up and down User presses up, down, PageUp, PageDown, or spacebar keys on a keyboard If you ask the average web user (or even the average web developer!) they [ more… ]
