2017-04-21 KENNETH 0

A week with Microsoft Edge: The browser built for books and reading Next up in our series, A Week with Microsoft Edge we’re talking about how the browser is built for books and reading. With the Windows 10 Creators Update, we’ve worked to make reading in Microsoft Edge a great experience and have expanded the type of content you can read right within the browser. You can read PDF files, the e-book file format EPUB and books you’ve downloaded from the Windows Store right within Microsoft Edge. You can also simplify the layout of web pages with Reading view, save pages to read later in your reading list, and more. Here are some tips for a great reading experience in Microsoft Edge. You can catch up on other blog posts in this week’s series below. <!– !function(a,b){"use strict";function c(){if(!e){e=!0;var a,c,d,f,g=-1!==navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE [ more… ]

Windows and Office align feature release schedules to benefit customers

2017-04-21 KENNETH 0

Windows and Office align feature release schedules to benefit customers  We’re thrilled that Windows 10 continues to be the fastest-adopted version of Windows ever, with more than 400 million monthly active devices and ever growing adoption in the enterprise. This approach has made large-scale, costly wipe-and-replace Windows deployments every few years a thing of the past. We’ve also heard our customers want more predictability and simplicity from this update servicing model to help make deployments and updates of Microsoft products easier. Based on this feedback, I am excited to share today [ more… ]

Modernizing the DOM tree in Microsoft Edge

Modernizing the DOM tree in Microsoft Edge The DOM is the foundation of the web platform programming model, and its design and performance impacts the rest of the browser pipeline. However, its history and evolution is far from a simple story. What we think of as “the DOM” is really the cooperation of several subsystems, such as JS binding, events, editing, spellchecking, HTML attributes, CSSOM, text, and others, all working together. Of these subsystems, the DOM “tree” is at the center. A diagram of the web platform pipeline. This post focuses on the DOM tree and cooperating components. Several years ago, we began a long journey to update to a modern DOM “tree” (node connectivity structures). By modernizing the core tree, which we completed in Microsoft Edge 14, we landed a new baseline and the scaffolding to deliver on our [ more… ]
