In early February,Β UnicodeΒ finalizedΒ the set of emoji to be included with Emoji 12.0. WithΒ theΒ MayΒ build, when you press WIN+(period) or WIN+(semicolon),Β all ofΒ these emoji now have keywordsΒ linked to them toΒ makeΒ them more searchable, so you can tryΒ it once you install the build.Β Keywords include otter, sloth, waffle, ballet shoesΒ and more.Β
The new emojiβs expansion into the animal kingdomΒ alsoΒ includes orangutans andΒ flamingos. Foodies can now pop inΒ π§ (butter),Β π§ (garlic),Β π§
Β (onion),Β
Β (falafel),Β π§Β (waffles)Β andΒ π§ (ice cube). (The newest images won’t appear in this post if you don’t yet have the update.) ThereΒ areΒ a total ofΒ 59 new emoji and 171 new variations on existing onesΒ in Emoji 12.Β
The release of EmojiΒ versionΒ 12.0Β aims toΒ better represent people with disabilities.Β Youβll now seeΒ mechanical limbs,Β sign language and hearing aids;Β as well asΒ manual and motorized wheelchairs and two different versions of service animals.Β
There are also many new emojis that represent different combinationsΒ of relationships and skin tones.Β There are nowΒ five skin tonesΒ as well as nearly 70 different possible combinations of the βPeople holding handsβ emoji.Β
